After winning June tourney, Brent Chapman tops Elite Angler of the Year standings
By Ellen Kelley
Congratulations go out to Brent Chapman, who had the attention of the fishing world as he secured a first place victory in a Bassmaster Elite series event June 7-10 at Toledo Bend Reservoir in Many, Louisiana.
Chapman, an accomplished, professional fisherman, had already qualified for the Bassmaster Classic in February, but this Elite Series first place victory and the nice check ($100,000) that accompanied it made this win pretty special. The win was his second major tournament victory of 2012, and his fifth top five finish in 2012 in eight events. Currently, Brent is at the top of the Bassmaster Elite Angler of the Year standings.
Brent’s win received the attention of the media as well. NBC affiliate, KSHB-TV, visited Lake Quivira to cover the story. Chapman gave a tour around the lake by boat as the camera rolled on Brent and the Lake Quivira community where he grew up and learned to fish.
