Brent Chapman was getting tired of being nearly invisible on the B.A.S.S. professional tour.
Oh, he had established himself as one of the top fishermen on the circuit, qualifying 11 times for the Bassmaster Classic, the Super Bowl of fishing. And he was making a comfortable living on the tour, cashing checks consistently in national events.
But when it came to the spotlight, he was toiling in the shadows.
“It was frustrating, knowing I was doing well but still not getting much recognition,” said Chapman, who lives at Lake Quivira. “In this game, you become known either by winning big tournaments or by being flashy. And the flashy part, that’s just not me.”
So, Chapman continued to grind away, knowing his time would come.
And it has. Big time.
